This week on our Highways Voices podcast we look forward to one of the most popular events in the highways and transport technology industry, the JCT Traffic Signals Symposium in Nottingham.

We chat to organiser John Nightingale, a director at JCT, who describes how the symposium started as “a very sort of gentlemanly type affair, where people would turn up, they would share a little bit about what they were doing with signals”.

It is now a three day event (including the MOVA User Group and opening social event) with a series of learned papers and an exhibition, and in the podcast, Mr Nightingale explains what we can look forward to this year, including a major session on traveller behaviour with Rory Sutherland and Pete Dyson.

You’ll also hear about the networking events, including the Yunex Gala Dinner which John Nightingale explains is “a very affordable dinner, we deliberately we don’t charge £150 per seat, like other events – It’s actually only £35 for the gala dinner this year… and that includes the [free] sponsored bar!”

You’ll hear all about exhibitors, and the video archive of events and why this really is an event you need to keep time for this September.

The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium takes place on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 September at Nottingham Trent University, with the MOVA User Group and opening networking barbecue on Wednesday 13. Find out more and sign up here.
