PTV Group and Sena Traffic to support Kuala Lumpur’s vision for smarter, sustainable mobility

PTV Group, part of the international brand Umovity will support Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in the development of a new strategic transport model and real-time traffic prediction solution.

In collaboration with Sena Traffic and NAJNA IngTech and commissioned by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, this initiative will equip the city with advanced tools to enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and support sustainable urban development.

Transport planning and traffic scheme assessments in Kuala Lumpur are often reactive, fragmented, and lack integration across multimodal systems and data sources. To address these challenges and realize its vision for smarter, more sustainable mobility, the city has selected PTV Group to provide the cutting-edge tools required to move forward.

PTV’s integrated software suite will serve as the backbone of this transformation, enabling Kuala Lumpur to adopt proactive, data-driven planning—supporting smarter decisions, smoother traffic flow, and long-term urban growth.

In the first phase, a calibrated, city-wide transport model will be developed using PTV Model2Go and PTV Visum, giving planners a reliable, data-backed foundation for strategic decision-making. The cloud-based platform PTV Hub will support collaboration among stakeholders and offer dynamic visualizations to guide planning processes. Additionally, PTV Flows will enable a new traffic prediction and monitoring solution covering 130 km of major city-center routes, helping manage congestion and improve travel reliability.

“This project underscores Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to building a smarter, more connected future. We are proud to support the metropolis on this smart city journey”, said Christian U. Haas CEO of PTV Group.

“The client’s decision to transition from legacy tools to the more advanced and user-friendly PTV solutions reflects Kuala Lumpur’s forward-thinking ambitions for improved mobility and a sustainable urban future,” added Ryan Wong Wenshen, PTV Managing Director for the APAC Region.
