The South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA), hosted by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, has announced the launch of a procurement process for a £384m highways framework covering trunk roads across South Wales. The four-year deal is due to begin in April 2027, says Construction News.
Carmarthenshire County Council and Monmouthshire County Council will also act as contracting authorities.
The framework will be divided into two lots: civils and ancillary works, and surfacing and ancillary works. It will run for an initial three years, with an option to extend for a further 12 months. Procured under an open procedure, the framework will use the NEC4 form of contract.
The tender is expected to be published in June 2026, the three councils announced. The framework will be used for a wide range of works connected to the maintenance and management of the SWTRA area.
It covers the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot, Central and Gwent Valleys, South West Wales, and Swansea regions.
