A85 improvement works set to begin

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will start £220K worth of road improvements on the A85 trunk road West of Loch Awe on Monday 8 July.

The works, which will continue for five weeks, taking place from Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, involve replacement of existing safety barriers, and traffic signs. Drainage will also be installed to provide improvements in the area.

Temporary traffic signals and a 30mph speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of the workforce, pedestrians and motorists for the duration of the project.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Trunk road safety is paramount at BEAR Scotland and this investment from Transport Scotland will improve safety for all road users at this location on the A85.

“The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential to keep everyone safe, so we encourage all road users to follow any signs or temporary arrangements, especially speed limits, that are put in place.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible.”
