Beat the Street initiative comes Braintree

Braintree District Council is excited to announce the arrival of the Beat the Street initiative across the Braintree district. Beat the Street is a game that encourages residents of all ages to walk, cycle and scoot their way to better health.

Starting on 5 March 2025, Beat the Street will transform the Braintree district into an interactive game board and all participants will be able to earn points by tapping on electronic sensors called “Beat Boxes” located at various points throughout the district. Places taking part in the game include Braintree town, Halstead, Witham, Coggeshall, Kelvedon, Earls Colne and Silver End.

This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for children, young people, families and individuals of all ages to get moving, explore their local environment and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Beat the Street is supported by the Braintree District Health & Wellbeing Panel and Active Braintree Foundation and is a scheme that will support the delivery of Braintree District Council’s Livewell Strategy 2024-28, through which the Council and its partners are committed to creating more opportunities for residents to participate in active and healthy lifestyles.

Everyone can get involved and registration is free.

Councillor Lynette Bowers-Flint, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing said: “We are thrilled to see the Beat the Street launching across the Braintree district. This exciting initiative will not only encourage residents to get active but also help them discover the hidden gems and green spaces within their local area. We encourage everyone to get involved and experience the fun and benefits of Beat the Street!”
