Bedfordshire set for A507 closure ramifications

From Monday 16 February, for two weeks, the A507 in Central Bedfordshire will be closed between the 101 roundabout and the Malden & Flitwick Road roundabout while a major programme of essential improvement works is carried out.

By closing the road once, the council says it can safely complete several works at the same time, including:

• Tree safety works and vegetation clearance
• Drainage ditch dredging to reduce surface water flooding
• Road surface repairs and pothole patching
• Signage repairs
• Footbridge inspection near Redbourne School

Some of the tree works are essential due to the trees rotting at the base or leaning dangerously towards the road and nearby power lines.

HGVs and lorries will be directed to use the A421, helping to reduce heavy traffic through Flitwick. Full diversion details are available on one.network.

A council statement said: “We know road closures are inconvenient, and thank residents for their patience while we invest in making the A507 safer and more resilient for the future.”
