Campaigning journalist and broadcaster Quentin Willson has died, aged 68, after a short illness. Willson was perhaps best known for his stints as a presenter on Top Gear and Fifth Gear, but latterly he had been a tireless advocate and national spokesperson for both FairFuel and FairCharge, intent on lowering fuel duties and improving EV charging infrastructure.
Alec Peachey, founder of Highways News’ editorial partner Transport + Energy to whom Willson was an editorial adviser, said:
“It is difficult to put into words the impact he’s had on me both professionally and personally. Quentin was an outstanding man and the influence he had on not just mine, but many lives is testament to that. The loss of Quentin will leave a massive hole in the electric vehicle and motoring sector, but his legacy will live on.
“What a career he had. What a communicator, campaigner and interviewer he was.”
