Core Highways reduces carbon

Core Highways, the nationwide traffic management and associated highways services provider, reduced its carbon output by 17.6% on a revenue intensity basis during their last financial year.

The company has set ambitious net zero commitments structured around seven goals delivering short and long-term carbon savings.  Working closely with customers and supply chain, embracing technology and driving operational efficiency has resulted in 17.6% savings on a revenue intensity basis to date.  This is underpinned by the introduction of a carbon reduction toolkit which provides practical solutions and advice.

Core Highways has set seven goals to achieve Net Zero by 2040, including focusing on their Scope 3 emissions.  The team have used data analytics to incentivise driver behaviour from their fleet telemetry, eliminated journeys by deploying digital sensors and, through early customer engagement, they have used traffic modelling capability to reduce carbon from motorised road users.

Lizi Stewart, CEO of Core Highways, said:

“With carbon footprints coming under more intense scrutiny, Core Highways aims to showcase that we’re committed to decarbonising our operations and to remain a standout contender to deliver schemes nationwide. At Core we understand our responsibility to our clients and the environment, and we are delighted with the results we have achieved over the last year.

“Going forward we will continue to drive down our carbon output. With ambitious targets being set, we’ll work with supply chain partners and clients to accelerate our journey towards net zero.”
