Derbyshire seeking pothole machinery and systems supplier

Derbyshire County Council Highways is seeking early market engagement to inform a potential future procurement of a functional machine designed to support reactive defect repairs within the highway network.

The Council are initially looking to gather information from suppliers and innovators regarding available or emerging technologies that can enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of defect repair operations.

Scope of Interest:

The Council is particularly interested in machinery or systems that can:

• Rapidly identify and repair surface-level defects (e.g., potholes, cracks, edge deterioration) with minimal disruption.
• Operate effectively in urban and rural environments, including constrained or high-traffic areas.
• Integrate with existing asset management systems or digital workflows.
• Demonstrate environmental benefits, such as reduced carbon emissions, noise, or waste.
• Be deployed flexibly for reactive maintenance, including out-of-hours or emergency response scenarios.

• Understand current and emerging capabilities in the market.
• Assess potential delivery models (purchase, lease, service-based).
