Flow Labs launches Flow API

Flow Labs has launched Flow API, a suite of APIs that gives transportation agencies programmatic access to the signal performance measures and mobility data from the Flow platform.

Flow API gives agencies the ability to integrate real-time and historical signal and mobility data directly into the systems that drive day-to-day operations – ATMS platforms, TMC tools, analytics environments, and custom applications. Teams can automate monitoring, build richer reporting workflows, and apply Flow data across their entire technology stack without manual exports or workarounds of any kind.

Flow API includes two core API sets:

  • Signals APIs for real-time and historical signal performance measures – covering the full range of metrics agencies need to monitor performance, automate reporting, and integrate signal intelligence into operational systems
  • Segments APIs for real-time and historical mobility data – supporting live operations monitoring, performance benchmarking, corridor analysis, and planning workflows

Signal data is among the most operationally complex data types agencies manage, and the Flow Signals API gives agencies access to high-fidelity, real-time signal performance measures which can now be fed directly into any system an agency is running, on demand.

The breadth of Flow API reflects Flow Labs’ commitment to building an open platform. Transportation agencies pull data from dozens of sources -controllers, detectors, connected vehicles, GIS, third-party platforms – and need their analytics infrastructure to work alongside those systems, not in isolation from them. Flow API is built on that principle, designed to ensure that the insights Flow generates can reach the people and systems that need them, wherever they are.

Jatish Patel, Chief Executive Officer at Flow Labs said:

“Transportation agencies invest significantly in their data infrastructure and deserve to get full value from it. Too much of this industry has been built around closed systems and vendor lock-in, keeping agencies dependent on proprietary workflows rather than empowering them to use their data on their own terms. Flow API is our answer to that – open, accessible, and built to integrate with the systems agencies already run.”
