House of Commons formally appoints Transport Select Committee members

The House of Commons has formally appointed the membership of the Transport Committee.

The cross-party select committee is nominated by the House of Commons to scrutinise the Department for Transport and will announce its forward programme in the coming weeks.

Individual nominees put forward by political parties were agreed in the House of Commons, following a Committee of Selection meeting.

Party seat allocations across and within committees is proportionate to the number of MPs elected to the House of Commons at the general election, with the precise number negotiated between the party whips through the Committee of Selection.

Ruth Cadbury was elected as chair of the Committee by all members of the House of Commons in September and the following MPs have now been appointed.
