The Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) is pleased to announce the date of its popular Traffic Signs Conference & Exhibition. This foremost event for traffic signing professionals supported by the Department for Transport (DfT) is now in its 30th year. For 2024 it returns to central Birmingham on Wednesday 6 November at the Park Regis.
‘Creating safer roads and quality neighbourhoods’ is the theme for this year’s event, picking up on the role signs and markings play in implementing road safety and environmental schemes such as school streets, low traffic neighbourhoods and 20 mph speed limits.
DfT are supporting the event as they have done since its inception, with speakers on the updated guidance for roadworks and in ‘Know Your Traffic Signs’. Revised regulations for private level crossings will also be covered.
The environmental theme will continue with the benefits of manufacturing signs within a social enterprise, and on carbon savings for road markings. Signing checks and changes needed for introducing Moving Traffic Enforcement will be covered from an authority perspective.
As usual, there will be an exhibition area, and every delegate will receive a printed copy of the latest IHE Sign Structures Guide.
Simon Morgan, who chairs the IHE panel for the event commented, “This is the main forum by which DfT and the industry communicate, and is a must for all those involved in the design, specification, manufacture or enforcement of traffic signs, highway engineers, urban designers, town centre managers”.
