Mace appointed to £45 million local authority highways framework

Mace, the global consultancy and construction company, has landed a role on Hampshire County Council’s technical resource framework for highways improvement programmes across the south of England.

The framework, worth a total of £45 million over a four-year period, is administered by Hampshire County Council but covers an area that stretches across 14 counties, from Devon in the west to Kent in the east, and as far north as Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

This is the first time Mace has won a role on the framework – now in its fifth iteration – presenting an opportunity to bring fresh ideas and new experience as the client seeks to bring forward transformational highways schemes that will benefit the entire region. However, it is not an introduction to Hampshire County Council. Mace has worked closely with the local authority for nearly 20 years, including providing consultancy and construction services through the Southern Construction Framework as well as collaborating with the council to decarbonise its school and corporate estates.

Through the framework, Mace will provide Hampshire County Council with a range of consultancy services, including project, contract, commercial and construction management, as well as surveying, planning and environmental advice. Work will be secured via mini-tender, with key opportunities aligned to the civils engineering framework recently announced by Hampshire County Council.

In addition to the development of the relationship with Hampshire County Council, the framework appointment strengthens Mace’s position in the highways sector, building on roles with National Highways and Subnational Transport Bodies across the country.

Sean Gray, Head of Transportation UK & Europe for Mace Consult, said:

“It’s fantastic to be given this opportunity to fortify our relationship with Hampshire County Council, which has included delivering high-quality, sustainable projects through the Southern Construction Framework for nearly two decades. This win allows us to not only enhance our highways presence in the region but also leverage our extensive capabilities in project management and contract, commercial and construction services.”
