Highway construction and maintenance specialist Marlborough Highways has held its inaugural Red Star Awards at the County Hotel in Chelmsford, Essex. The event recognised and rewarded Marlborough’s people, and provided an opportunity to celebrate in the company’s shared success.
Attended by more than 100 Marlborough employees, nine winners were presented with trophies on the evening, with a further 16 members of staff highly commended for their hard work and commitment to excellence. Each recipient was nominated by a fellow member of staff, with 141 individual entries going to an impartial judging panel. The wide range of award types ensured that people from across the business were recognised, with front line operatives, office-based staff, apprentices, and managers amongst those to be celebrated.
The categories for the 2022 Red Star Awards were Best Housekeeping, Client Support, Step in and Stop it, Apprentice of the Year, Most Supportive, The Motivator, Superstar, and Best Manager. The quality of nominations was extremely high, with strong submissions received from each of Marlborough’s Chelmsford, London, Southend-on-Sea, and Brentwood based teams.
The awards ceremony was not only about recognising success, but it was also an opportunity for colleagues to come together in celebration. Hosted by the comedian Kevin McCarthy alongside Marlborough’s Executive Board members (Matthew Revell, Will Blostone, Joseph Revell, and Steve Revell), there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout, with a three-course meal and entertainment provided by the gifted performers Incognito, who are an exceptional troop of actors and singers.
Matthew Revell, Marlborough’s Managing Director, said “The 2022 Red Star Awards was a huge success, and I could not be prouder of my enormously talented team. It was an incredible night with a real sense of occasion, I would like to thank everyone who took part and am particularly grateful to those who made a nomination. On behalf of everyone at Marlborough, I would like to congratulate all of the winners and nominees, we are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
