An online survey has revealed that many British drivers think they are more skilled behind the wheel than vehicle technology.
Whilst many companies are currently working on developing driverless vehicles for use on the public roads, heycar’s study found that many have more confidence in themselves compared to any form of technology inside their car.
Dermot Kelleher, Chief Marketing Officer of heycar, suggested that a mix of human skill and assistance technology is currently the safest way to drive, says the Daily Express.
He explained: “While technology continues to advance and enhance our driving experience, it’s clear that many drivers still trust their own instincts and abilities over automated systems.
The survey studied the opinions of 2000 motorists from across the UK, 57 percent think that they are better at parking their vehicle when compared to an autonomous system.
However, whilst the system is meant to remove some of the stress that can come from squeezing into a tight spot, it is clear that many drivers are worried a sensor could give a false reading, running the risk of an accident.
