Staffordshire: £400,000 road maintenance scheme to begin next week

Work on the B4151 Walsall Road in Norton Canes will being on 7 April, and will take around four weeks to complete.

Highways crews from Staffordshire County Council will be replacing ironwork and damaged kerbs where necessary, before moving on to completely resurfacing the road between 50m south of Betty’s Lane to 50m north of Norton Green Lane.

Crews will be working under temporary traffic lights from 7 to 17 April. From Monday 20 April, overnight road closures will be place as crews complete the resurfacing phase of the work.

Diversions during this time will be clearly signed.

Darryl Eyers, Director for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills at Staffordshire County Council said:

“This work on Walsall Road is part of our ongoing effort to improve the condition of Staffordshire’s roads. The scheme will help to extend the life of the carriageway and reduce the need for future repairs.

“We recognise that roadworks can be disruptive, particularly where traffic management or overnight closures are required, and we’ve planned the work carefully to keep disruption to a minimum. Our crews will be working efficiently to complete the scheme as quickly as possible, and we’re grateful to residents and road users for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.”
