Major roadworks at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre roundabout were cancelled at the end of last week as Storm Goretti hit the county. National Highways is working on a major scheme on the A52 between the Priory and QMC roundabouts as the stretch of road is coming to the “end of its serviceable life,” says Nottinghamshire Live.
The latest element of the project involves the resurfacing of the QMC roundabout and overnight closures for the work means the majority of the junction was set to be shut from 8pm until 6am between January 5 and January 9.
However, National Highways confirmed that the works for Thursday evening (January 8) had been cancelled amid both yellow and amber Met Office warnings for snow in Nottingham.
Nottingham City Transport confirmed that its affected Orange services would be following their normal routes as a result of the roadworks being cancelled.
National Highways is also constructing a combined cycleway and footway on the eastbound side of the A52 as part of its scheme, which began in May 2025 and is set to finish in the spring of 2026.
The QMC roundabout is set to be closed overnight again on Friday (January 9) and then another phase of works will see overnight closures at the junction from January 12 until January 15.
The closure means the majority of the roundabout will be closed, although drivers approaching from Middleton Boulevard and Derby Road can still use their respective first exits.
