TomTom have announced the launch of a new road alert assistant called… Tom. Tom is powered by the TomTom app, harnessing the insights from a global community of 600 million connected devices and three decades of navigation experience.
Described as ‘your sidekick on the road’ 48x48x14mm Tom is designed to boost your focus and increase confidence on the road. The device alerts the driver about changing traffic conditions, obstacles and speed cameras with audio visual cues and marks a return to physical devices for the navigation tech specialists.
Tom’s main features include:
Speed camera alerts
Tom warns you about upcoming fixed speed cameras, mobile traps, danger zones (in France) and trajectory controls – all with audio and visual alerts.
Obstacle warnings
Road works, accidents, broken-down vehicles – Tom spots them all. Even objects on the road, dangerous conditions and wrong-way drivers are flagged before you encounter them.
TomTom Traffic alerts
Sudden standstills. Unexpected slowdowns. Dangerous jam tails. Tom alerts you of them all to help you avoid a dangerous situation.

Starts automatically
There is need to open the app before every drive. With its built-in Autostart feature, Tom activates the moment you hit the road.
Tom also has the ability to turn unknown roads into familiar territory. TomTom’s global community – the world’s largest network of drivers – shares real-time updates that bring the comfort of hometown commutes to your travels abroad.
