The South East is set to benefit from enhanced walking and cycling opportunities thanks to new funding from the Department for Transport (DfT).
More than £31.5 million from the Active Travel Capability Fund 2024/25 has been allocated to local authorities across the region. This will support the development of new walkways and cycle paths, upgraded crossings and junctions, and cycle training for school children.
Investing in active travel is crucial for improving connectivity, cutting carbon emissions, and enhancing social, environmental, and health benefits. This funding will help make walking, cycling, and wheeling safer, more accessible, and more convenient for everyone across the South East in the years ahead.
