Women in Bus and Coach announces Laura Hadzik as new Chair

Women in Bus and Coach is entering a new chapter, with founder and Chair Louise Cheeseman OBE stepping down after three years and Laura Hadzik appointed as her successor.

Bringing extensive sector experience as a specialist road transport solicitor, Ms Hadzik, currently a director on the Women in Bus and Coach board, has advised operators of all sizes across the bus, coach and haulage sectors throughout the UK and Europe for nearly 20 years. She has also championed diversity throughout her career, reflecting her commitment to inclusion across the transport sector.

Laura Hadzik will officially take over as Chair on the 1st of June 2026, working closely with Louise during a managed six-month handover to ensure continuity as the organisation enters its next phase.

Since founding Women in Bus and Coach, Louise Cheeseman OBE has overseen significant growth and impact for the organisation, helping to drive greater visibility, inclusion and opportunity for women across the bus, coach and community transport industry. Under her leadership, Women in Bus and Coach has delivered numerous groundbreaking initiatives, including the Blue Plaque initiative, the Period Positive Workplace campaign, and the creation of the ground-breaking Mentee Director role to name but a few.

Reflecting on her decision, Louise Cheeseman OBE said:

“I am incredibly proud of everything Women in Bus and Coach has achieved since it was founded. What
started as an idea has grown into a national movement making a real difference across our industry now feels like the right time for a new Chair to take the organisation forward into its next stage, and I am delighted that Laura will be stepping into this role.

“I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in Women in Bus and Coach, the volunteers across all our regions and working groups, our corporate members, and the board, whose commitment, passion and support have made our success possible. I look forward to continuing to support the organisation and Laura during
the handover period.”

Incoming Chair Laura Hadzik added:

“It is an honour to be appointed Chair of Women in Bus and Coach and to follow in Louise’s footsteps. Louise has built an organisation with a strong purpose, credibility and impact, and I am grateful for her support during this transition. I am excited to continue to work with the board, volunteers, members and partners to build on these strong foundations and help take Women in Bus and Coach into its next chapter.”
