Monmouthshire: Work set to begin on new Active Travel route

Construction of a new 500m long active travel route in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, will begin later this month. The Caldicot Multi-User Route (MUR) will form part of the wider active travel network across the Severnside area of Monmouthshire.

The project includes the construction of a new active travel route that will connect the northern end of the completed Caldicot Links active travel route, along the old railway line, with the existing west-east route through Caldicot Castle Country Park.

Monmouthshire County Council has worked with Burroughs and TACP (UK) Ltd to develop an outline proposal for the route. The work is scheduled to last until June.

For the safety of country park users, the working areas will have limited access during construction.

Further information will be available through on-site signage and on the project webpage.

A Monmouthshire County Council spokesperson said:

“Active travel offers wonderful benefits to your health and well-being as well as your mental health. It also helps to bring communities closer together while reducing air pollution.”
