Major improvement work is set to take place on Yarborough Road in Grimsby to improve safety and reduce the need for more works in the area in the future.
North East Lincolnshire Council will be carrying out road and footpath reconstruction works between Grange Walk and the Market Hotel Roundabout from Monday 13 July 2026 until Saturday 24 October 2026.
As part of the scheme, changes to the road layout have been designed to enhance safety for all road users. The improvements will increase visibility for drivers exiting Cross Coates Road, making it easier to see approaching traffic on Yarborough Road and helping to reduce the potential for vehicle collisions.
Although these works will inevitably cause some temporary disruption, the project has been carefully planned to bring together a number of essential highway improvements within one programme of works. Delivering these elements at the same time will reduce the need for additional roadworks in the future, helping to minimise longer-term disruption for residents, businesses and road users. The main closures have been planned for overnight or weekends.
The scheme will include:
- Reconstruction of sections of road and footpath
- Changes to the road layout
- Replacement of damaged kerbs
- Drainage improvements
- New road markings
