The Scottish Government is switching to a framework-led approach to deliver the final five contracts on the A9 dualling programme. Until now the venture had been run along the lines of a project-by-project tender model.
According to Construction Enquirer, Transport Scotland will start market engagement next month ahead of inviting bids in March for places on a four-year A9 Dualling Delivery Framework Agreement, covering the remaining sections between Perth and Inverness.
The £1.9bn programme will see all future work let via call-offs under a single framework, a move expected to speed up procurement and improve delivery efficiency on the long-delayed scheme.
Earlier phases were let as standalone contracts, with Balfour Beatty and Wills Bros securing major packages.
Transport Scotland said the framework could include a lotting structure, but this will be shaped by contractor feedback during consultation.
The framework will cover full design and construction of dual two-lane all-purpose carriageway, including bridges, junctions, earthworks and extensive environmental mitigation on the remaining 90km of upgrade.
