ADEPT calls for partnership with government to address the housing crisis and deliver sustainable communities

The Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport, ADEPT, has published a new policy paper, calling for a partnership with government to address the housing crisis and deliver sustainable communities.

It advocates for comprehensive infrastructure development alongside housing, including integrated transport solutions.

The paper outlines how the government’s housebuilding target of 1.5 million new homes over the next parliament can only be met through coordinated local action and a fundamental rethink of the planning system.

Key recommendations include a clear delivery framework and long-term funding for housing and supporting infrastructure.

ADEPT stresses the need for local authority empowerment, with the necessary tools and resources to achieve these ambitious housing and infrastructure goals.
