Amey brings back investment division to support public private infrastructure initiatives

Engineering company Amey has re-established its investment division aimed at helping finance current and future demand for new and sustainable infrastructure both in the UK and overseas.

The new team will look to support public private investment opportunities, building on the company’s previous experience, bidding for, designing and successfully operating a large number of public private partnerships.

The company says the move follows a review of services by Amey CEO Andy Milner, who returned to the company in 2023, after Amey had divested much of its investment activity but retained many of the skills within the wider team. Amey Ventures Investments continues to manage its ongoing PPP portfolio.

Amey adds it has a strong track record in public private partnerships, having successfully bid and operated over 20 such complex projects, and has retained the capability, skills and financial relationships to manage the complexity required.

The investment division will be supported by Amey’s engineers, analysts and data scientists, collecting and analysing accurate technical data to de-risk investments and help Governments go further to meet their sustainable infrastructure and Net Zero commitments.

Amey’s Chief Commercial Officer Kelvin Dryden, will lead the new team. He said: “By coordinating the availability of finance from the private sector with the needs of the public sector, Governments can take decisive and bold action which will help to kickstart economic growth and deliver the infrastructure the UK needs.

“Infrastructure is a key component of a growth economy, attracting investment and supporting all tiers of society. We believe that Net Zero can be achieved by unlocking the collaboration between the public sector’s needs and the private sector’s vision and finance, thereby facilitating project financing in a Net Zero economy.

“More immediately, Amey is well-positioned to support emerging opportunities within this landscape. By leveraging its extensive experience, strong partnerships, and innovative approach, Amey can continue to deliver exceptional value to its clients, advise on successful PPP approaches, work with investors and deliver future projects.”
