Amey set to double placements through latest Early Careers recruitment drive

Amey is doubling its Early Careers intake with over 200 placements now open for 2026. The move comes as the company welcomes more than 100 new graduates, apprentices, and placement students this September, reinforcing its commitment to building diverse talent pipelines in a sector where entry-level opportunities can be difficult to find.

Michael Burgess, Chief People Officer for Amey, said:

“It is important to invest in young talent and offer clear pathways for those starting their careers. It is also an exciting time for them to join Amey as our business is thriving, with ongoing international expansion and a number of recent contract wins.

“It is always energising to welcome young people from all walks of life who bring new ideas and perspectives to help strengthen and shape Amey’s teams and projects. Our Early Careers Programmes are about more than just training; they are about giving people the tools, confidence, and opportunities to make a real impact.”

From day one, participants will be immersed in live projects that shape the UK’s infrastructure. Whether contributing to the TransPennine Route upgrade, which is transforming rail journeys across Northern England, or helping to design active travel schemes that cut carbon and improve connectivity in cities.

The programmes offer tailored development pathways across a range of disciplines including engineering, quantity surveying, commercial and corporate roles. Participants receive one-on-one mentoring from industry experts and are supported in working towards recognised qualifications through relevant professional bodies.

Megan Shields, Assurance Graduate at Amey, said:

“As a recent graduate straight out of university, I was drawn to Amey by the sheer breadth of opportunities available across the business. Starting my career in quality assurance within HSEQ, I have already seen how much support and encouragement there is for early careers professionals to grow and make a real impact. As a woman in STEM, it is inspiring to be part of a company that values diversity and is committed to developing talent from all backgrounds. I am excited to contribute to complex projects, learn from experienced colleagues, and help shape safer, more sustainable facilities for the future.”

With a company-wide goal of 40 per cent female and 14 per cent multicultural representation by 2030, Amey remains committed to increasing gender diversity, disability inclusion, and multiethnic participation across its programmes. Those passionate about shaping communities and influencing the future of infrastructure are encouraged to apply for a placement on the Amey website.
