AppyWay have launched a new system that gives council officers one login for all Core Traffic Order Management Tasks, and now also for Temporary Traffic Orders.
Across the UK, local authorities work tirelessly to keep roads moving. Whether it’s ensuring clear routes for essential streetworks or managing congestion in busy town centres, traffic orders play a crucial role. Yet, behind the scenes, the process remains riddled with inefficiencies – outdated systems, disconnected
workflows, and time-consuming manual tasks.
Local authorities can now say goodbye to juggling multiple systems for traffic management. AppyWay’s groundbreaking Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTRO) Module completes the UK’s first unified platform
handling all core traffic order types in one place – permanent, experimental, temporary and off-street orders, for parking and loading, speed and movement regulations – all within a single interface, with just one login. It potentially could be saving councils a slice of the £126.4 million spent annually on traffic order administration.
“Handling various types of traffic orders has been unnecessarily complex for local authorities,” explains Samuel Kinrade, Product Owner at AppyWay. “Despite each council managing just one geographical area, they’ve been forced to use multiple disconnected tools for different order types. Even when vendors claimed to offer comprehensive solutions, they were really just bundling separate platforms with different logins and interfaces.
“It’s like trying to manage your household finances with separate apps for each utility, mortgage, and grocery bill – with none sharing information. You spend more time logging in and out than actually managing your money. That’s exactly what council traffic teams have been dealing with until now. Our unified platform brings everything together in one place, just like modern banking apps have done for personal finance.”
The initial rollout focuses on delivering a comprehensive end-to-end TTRO order flow, but AppyWay’s vision stretches further – to eventually empower TTRO applicants directly, slashing administrative overhead and eliminating redundancies that had troubled local authorities for years.
To showcase this new capability, AppyWay is hosting a free live demo webinar on 24 April 2025, at 11:00 am. Attendees will see firsthand how the TTRO Module simplifies traffic order management. More details and registration can be found here.
AppyWay say that the TTRO Module is designed to streamline and simplify the entire TTRO lifecycle:
• Digital Order Flow & Mapping – A seamless digital order process, fully integrated with Traffic Suite, allowing authorities to visualise and manage TTRO orders on a map-based interface.
• Enhanced Public Transparency – An integrated engagement module enables public consultations, fostering open communication and building trust.
• Visual TTRO Representation – Our public facing map, Streets, now displays TTRO information visually, which can also be hosted on council websites via an iFrame.
• API Integration – The TempO Module integrates effortlessly with existing enforcement tools and other systems via a robust API.
• DTRO Compliant – Built to meet the standards of Digital Traffic Regulation Orders (DTROs).
• Continuous Optimisation: Ongoing research and development are dedicated to minimising manual effort and eliminating redundancy across the entire TTRO lifecycle.
