ASI Solutions, the leading provider of asphalt preservation in the UK and around the world, has appointed Jim Christie as its new Managing Director.
He will replace Dr Howard Robinson, who is stepping down from full-time roll as MD to become Chair of the Board of Directors.
After retiring from Nynas Bitumen in May 2022, Mr Christie took on several Non-Executive Director roles, including joining the ASI Board.
He has worked within the highway and highway related industries for 40years. Starting with Colas Roads in the early eighties as the Sales Executive for East Anglia, then became Southern Region Sales Manager in the late eighties and finally National Sales Manager-Packaged Products.
Mr Christie left to join the then Associated Asphalt in 1990 working as Sales and Marketing manager for East Anglia for a short while before becoming Safepave Manager. Safepave was at the vanguard of thin surfacing technologies and development in the UK. Jim joined Nynas UK AB in 1994 and remained with them until his semi-retirement in 2022. He held various roles in Nynas becoming Sales Director in 2001 and then Managing Director for the UK in 2008, he joined the Group Executive Board in 2013 and shortly afterwards became Business Area Director for the UK and Western Europe.
The move comes as ASI continues to see increased demand for Rhinophalt both in the UK and around the world as asphalt preservation becomes ever more popular.
Rhinophalt is the original, authentic and trusted source of preservation in several sectors including local and strategic roads, bridges, airfields and test tracks. The product carries not only a BBA HAPAS certificate but also a UKCA/CE marking, demonstrating its consistent product quality and delivery whenever it is applied. ASI Solutions has an exclusive global licence with Asphalt Systems Inc in the US to operate the technology around the world.
Rhinophalt also provides an ideal solution for councils as sustainability challenges remain at the forefront of their agendas, with it providing more than 90% in carbon savings compared to traditional resurfacing. ASI Solutions remains committed to helping local government and all road operators to reduce carbon as part of their asset management strategies.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Christie said: “This is an exciting time to be joining ASI Solutions as the demand for quality asphalt preservation continues to grow around the world. I am looking forward to helping highway authorities and airport operators and others to keep their asphalt surfaces in better condition for longer while reducing carbon from the maintenance process at the same time.”
Rhinophalt can double the asphalt service life of a road for half the cost compared to resurfacing, therefore reducing the demand for reactive maintenance, with fewer potholes and less claims. It preserves, protects and extends the life of the asphalt infrastructure and is proven to withstand all extreme weather conditions. As well as all types of roads, including the M40, Rhinophalt has also been successfully applied to bridges, airports and test tracks around the world.
