Authorities sign up to LCRIG Innovation Festival

This summer’s Innovation Festival will be a first of its kind for the highways sector and is being put on by the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG). Several local authorities have already committed to making their road networks available for trials along with funding for qualifying innovators who participate in the event.

The event will be held at Newark Showground from 6-7 July, providing a flexible space for indoor and outdoor exhibitions, as well as space to demonstrate products on a test road environment.

By sponsoring or exhibiting at the festival, companies will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services to local authorities, central government, the supply chain, associations, and academia.

Public sector delegates can attend the two-day festival free of charge (including accommodation, catering, and refreshments – subject to availability) due to contributions from sponsors and exhibitors.

A proportion of the income generated will also go towards the ‘LCRIG Steve Berry Innovation Fund’.

Exhibitors are also able to request to be included as a qualifying innovator to be eligible for innovation funding and/or trials. Across the two-day event, the LCRIG Infrastructure Innovation Board and event delegates will judge the qualifying innovations, with a winner being chosen from each innovator award category.
The Innovator categories are:

  • Water Course Management
  • Highway Defect
  • Green Estate
  • Winter Maintenance
  • Transport Technology
  • Retro-reflectivity
  • Health and Safety
  • Fleet & Equipment
