A bereaved Mum has become the latest person to sign the Essex Vision Zero pledge – showing her support for eradicating death and injury on the county’s roads.

Mandy Garner, from Epping, signed the pledge to mark National Road Victim Month, which runs throughout August, in memory of her daughter Anisha, who was killed by a speeding hit and run driver in 2020.

She said: I’ve signed the pledge because speeding kills and because we know the utter devastation it leaves in its wake.”

Anisha, who was 20-years-old when she was killed, was hit by a driver travelling at more than 60mph in a built-up area. He drove away from the scene and only handed himself in 48 hours later.

Anisha had been in her first year studying philosophy and Spanish at King’s College, in London.

Mandy also features in a video, released by RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, to mark National Road Victim Month, which highlights the devastating impact that speeding has on innocent lives.
