There’s speculation that Tesla may be in the market to buy Ford’s factory in Bridgend when it comes on the market in the summer.
The Telegraph reports that the property consultant CBRE selling the plant, which closed last September and comments that there is “fevered speculation” that Tesla owner Elon Musk is planning a major investment in the UK, and that the plant may be perfect for building the cars.
He spent three days in the UK earlier in the month apparently looking for a site.
The report notes that the Department for International Trade’s Office for Investment sent out an urgent request for potential sites for a new 250ha car factory earlier this month, putting regions on alert for a potential investment.
It notes that the Bridgend plant would be a fraction of the price of land in London.
