The CEO of RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, has stepped down after fewer than three months in the job.
Kate Davidson MBE replaced former INRIX, ITIS and AA Roadwatch executive Nick Simmons as CEO in August. The charity says her decision to depart so soon after assuming the role “was not made lightly and is the result of unforeseen circumstances”.
Howard Jones (pictured), who has held roles as the CEO of Born Free and as the Development Director of the Eden Project in Cornwall, now becomes the interim CEO of RoadPeace on a one-year contract.
Mr Jones is currently a board member for Battling On, a charity supporting people with multiple and complex needs, a member of the Academy of Urbanism, a member of the Sustainable Earth Institute and a patron of the Endangered Species Protection Agency. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Plymouth for the impact of his community and social justice work.
RoadPeace says he understands the practices around working with volunteers and “strongly subscribes to the idea of getting things in order whilst bringing the team with him”.
“We are excited to have Howard on board and we look forward to all that RoadPeace can achieve with him at the helm over the coming year,” the organisation says in a statement.
