CHM Group installs innovative Cycle Lane Delineators in South Dublin

CHM Group has successfully installed the Horizont cycle lane delineator system in South Dublin. With more than 60,000 people commuting by bicycle in Dublin every day, improving cyclist safety while maintaining efficient traffic flow for motorists is a key priority. Supported by Solar Gates, over 100 metres of the highly
flexible and mobile system were installed in the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown area, marking a positive step toward
enhancing both cyclist safety and the local transport network.

German-engineered, the Horizont system features a unique ARS anti-slip base that adheres securely to the
road surface without the need for invasive or damaging installation methods such as drilling or bolting. This
allows for rapid deployment, reduced disruption and preservation of existing road surfaces.

Designed as a pop-up cycle lane solution, the system can be used for temporary projects or transitioned to a
permanent installation if required. It is fully compatible with Leitboys, which lock securely into the guide curb
via dual guide grooves and a locking cam mechanism. Even when driven over by vehicles, the system remains
firmly in place and automatically springs back into shape, ensuring long-term durability and consistent
performance.

The Cycle Lane System is an award-winning product in Germany. The Guide Curb is the only European-
manufactured weighted delineator system approved for use on all European road types including high speed
and was a Eurobike Award winner 2023 and German Design Award winner 2024.

Damien McPadden, Operations Manager at CHM Group, commented:

“We are very satisfied with the performance of the new cycle lane installation from a contractor’s perspective,
which was delivered in a controlled and efficient manner. All three locations were completed within a two-day
programme, resulting in minimal disruption and a highly cost-effective outcome. Based on the installation
methodology and overall performance, I am confident this system is suitable for wider deployment in future
schemes.”
