Dan Cullern appointed LCRIG’s first Head of Sector Insights

LCRIG (Local Councils Road Innovations Group) has announce the appointment of Dan Cullern as Head of Sector Insights. In this newly established role, Dan will lead on a range of research programmes and projects within the highway maintenance and transport technology sectors, significantly enhancing our sector insights capabilities.

Dan’s appointment represents a key milestone in LCRIG’s ongoing growth and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to continually enhancing the value it provides to its members. His leadership and expertise will be instrumental in developing best practices and generating valuable insights that will be shared across the membership.

“By strengthening our sector insights capabilities, we aim to ensure that our work positively impacts policy and practice research for both the LCRIG community and the wider sector. This aligns with our ambition to connect the industry through innovation and collaboration,” says the LCRIG announcement.

Dan brings a wealth of experience in transport consultancy, including the coordination of pan-European ITS initiatives on behalf of National Highways and other UK and Irish Road Operators through the STREETWISE consortium. With an extensive network of contacts in the transport technology sector, Dan has been the primary liaison between European ITS stakeholders and UK, Irish and wider European road authorities for several years.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining LCRIG, Dan said: “Having worked closely alongside LCRIG over recent years, I have seen first-hand how fresh, original and increasingly important our contribution is to the sector, how respected we are, and how genuine, collaborative and constructive our relationships are with the LCRIG membership and stakeholders.  I am thrilled to be part of such an innovative and welcoming team and I look forward to immersing myself in the ever-expanding LCRIG community in order to better understand the prevalent issues and priorities across the sector and how we can most effectively respond to them.”

Paula Claytonsmith, CEO at LCRIG, shared her excitement about Dan’s appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the LCRIG team. He joins us at a pivotal time as we continue to grow and enhance our support for members. Dan’s extensive experience in managing large pan-European research projects within the ITS space will be invaluable as we strive to add even greater value to our LCRIG members and also further support the broader TTF groups and activities.”
