The organisers of next year’s ITS European Congress in Istanbul are reminding would-be speakers that the call for contributions closes on Monday 24 November.
Researchers, industry leaders, transport and mobility professionals, and public and private sector experts from Europe and beyond have been invited to send in submissions for the technical programme for the event from 27-29 April 2026.
Under the theme “Bridging Innovation: Integrated, Safe and Seamless Mobility”, the organisers ERTICO – ITS Europe explain that the programme covers the latest breakthroughs in technology, policy, business models, and societal and environmental factors in relation to Intelligent Transport Systems.
After the European Commission announced with new plans for high-speed rail and sustainable fuels for aviation and waterborne sectors, the topics are particularly important, and the host nation Türkiye is an important partner on transport due to its strategic location at the crossroad between Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus, playing key role in the extension of the Trans-European Network for Transport (TEN-T) to the neighbouring countries.
“We have a topic in the Congress dedicated not only to the road sector but also explicitly beyond to the rail, maritime and air mobility,” explained Rita Bhandari, Senior Manager Programme and Knowledge Integration at ERTICO. “This is in response to the ever-growing coverage of the ITS domain. The European Programme Committee of the Congress is really looking forward to receiving contributions from a wider network of those involved in research and innovation who wish to present their work to new audiences.”
With more than 3000 attendees expected at the 2026 ITS Congress in Istanbul, would-be presenters can reach their target audience to share insights and get new inspiration. The European Programme Committee is looking to receive proposals for Technical and Research Papers, Special Interest Sessions, and Strategic Future Sessions. It calls it a unique opportunity to present work, enrich the Congress programme, connect with thought leaders, and influence the future of mobility in Europe and beyond.
Meanwhile, the theme for one of the main Plenary Sessions for the Congress has been announced. “One Journey: How do we make mobility truly seamless?” will bring together leaders from public agencies, technology firms, and research institutions to challenge and rethink what “integration” truly means in a data-driven ecosystem.
