In a new paper from TRL’s Head of Decarbonisation Dr Anthony Velazquez he says that to successfully decarbonise transport, there has to be economies of scale to deliver cos-efficient low carbon technologies and sustainable, flexible and resilient energy pathways (technology dependendency), greater operational efficiency – of vehicle occupancy, loading factors and integrated multi-modal transport systems (systems design) and a modal shift towards public transport, active travel and eliminating unnecessary trips (human factors).
