The CEO of European ITS organisation ERTICO says he has found a real enthusiasm to visit the ITS World Congress in Birmingham in two years’ time.
Joost Vantomme’s organisation is working with Transport for West Midlands and the UK Department for Transport to deliver the major event the next time it comes to Europe, with initial exhibition and partnership sales beginning during the 2025 Congress in Atlanta.
“I feel the buzz,” Mr Vantomme said after speaking with visitors about their enthusiasm for coming to Birmingham. “I feel the buzz in terms of people want to come to the UK -they have great multi modal things in Birmingham and the whole West Midlands.
He spoke of the excellent co-operation between ERTICO and the UK partners: “This is really the example of positive orchestration. We have the European programme committee in place with my team and teams in the UK, and the programme looks very interesting in terms of what’s new, and you have a lot of things to showcase in the UK.”
The 2027 ITS World Congress takes place at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham from 25 to 29 October. It’s the first time the UK has hosted the event since London 2006.
“You can count on my and my team’s very active presence,” Mr Vantomme concluded. “Also the European Commission is engaged, they have already signed up, and we are now in the process of identifying the new kids on the block in terms of topics and innovations”.
The UK & ERTICO – ITS Europe Pavilion at the Atlanta World Congress is supported by Transport for West Midlands, AGD Systems, MAV Systems, Immense, Nicander, Intelligent Instruments, Navtech Radar and Zenzic.
