Highways England has started the procurement process for the maintenance and response contract for Area 3 of its network.
The organisation is asking interested contractors to register their interest now before a tender launch on September 11th. Area 3 covers Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and also Buckinghamshire, says a prior information notice on OJEU.
The contract, valued at £190 million and estimated to last approximately eight years, will cover all routine and response maintenance, incident response, defect rectification and severe weather delivery on the all-purpose trunk roads and motorways within the area says the notice.
“Additional duties will also include maintenance of roadside technology, the provision of traffic management for the contractor’s maintenance and response activities (including traffic management) during incidents and where instructed by Highways England and the maintenance of depots,” the OJEU notice adds.
