The UK’s flagship highways and transport event, Highways UK, starts today in Hall 9 & 10 at the Birmingham NEC.
As well as two halls full of exhibitors including all the major tier 1 contractors, National Highways and the rest highways supply chain, there are several theatres covering a number of important subjects over the two days of the event including the Keynote theatre and National Highways Theatre.
National Highways is inviting visitors to Highways UK the opportunity to book 1-2-1 meeting with its senior experts across a range of areas. Just visit the National Highways stand (I80) on arrival at the exhibition to secure your slot. You are of course, says National Highways, welcome to drop by for an informal chat anytime and to join them for an informal drinks reception at the stand at 5pm on 3 November, the end of day one.
Elsewhere, the question of: How do we make the next generation of highways more sustainable? is being considered by young professionals on the Skanska and Mott MacDonald stands. Visitors are invited to spend a few minutes giving us your view on how we can make the next generation of highways more sustainable. The young professionals want to hear what you think of their ideas and see if you have any great ideas of your own – your opinion could help shape the future of the industry!
Innovate UK’s Innovation Hub (Stand D25) will host 14 pioneering companies within the highways sector. From traffic management tactics to affordable energy storage and geospatial data, the Innovation Hub and adjoining Start Up Theatre will involve live demonstrations and pitching sessions as well as interactive Q&As with both Innovate UK and Knowledge Transfer Network.
Highways News advertiser SRL will be on stand D52 to talk about its portfolio of products and partnerships designed to promote work zone safety, with the launch at Highways UK of an exclusive partnership with barrier, gate and bollard manufacturer, Solar Gates UK. INSTABOOM solar/hybrid instant work zone protection barriers are a safer and more cost-efficient alternative to the traditional plastic barriers staffed by dedicated gatepeople and may now be hired from SRL.
