The housing agency Homes England has begun the hunt for civil engineering contractors to bid for the new £23m Homestead Link Road in Rugby, which will consist of a 2km long all-traffic single carriageway connecting the A426 (Rugby Road) with the B4429 (Coventry Road).
The road is required to unlock the new 5000-home South West Rugby development, that also includes primary and secondary schools, a new neighbourhood centre, 35 hectares of employment land and green infrastructure.
Homes England aims to shortlist five firms for the development of the new community, with applications need to be submitted by 27 September with the contract start date set for July next year.
