Econ Engineering has announced that its Sales Director, Andrew Lupton has ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ died. He passed away on Sunday 9th January, with the company issuing the following statement:
“It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected death on Sunday 9th January 2022 of our much-loved Sales Director, Andrew Lupton.
His untimely death has come as a terrible shock and will take some time for us to come to terms with.
Our thoughts at this incredibly sad time go out to his family and all those who knew Andrew, either professionally or personally.
Andrew, who ran this second-generation family engineering business alongside his brother and co-director, Jonathan Lupton, and Finance Director Bev Shepherd, did so with immense passion and enthusiasm. It was his drive and determination that helped grow Econ into the business it is today – the leading manufacturer of gritters and highway maintenance vehicles in the UK.
The industry we operate in is a niche one, and Andrew was an incredibly well-respected figure within it. It is our intention to open a book of condolence in due course. In the meantime, a Just Giving page in Andrew’s memory has been set up for anyone wishing to pay tribute.”
Friend of Andrew’s and industry colleague Mark Dutton, who is Managing Director of Safecote said: “I first met Andrew in 1993 back in my Salt Union days. From that moment on we seemed to develop a respectful relationship for each other, sharing a love for snow, ice and football. Over the years we have met at various conferences around the world and shared beers and dinner on many occasions, as well as having many early evening ‘state of the nation’ telephone calls. I am completely shocked at Andrew’s passing and my thoughts, along with many others from the industry are with his family and colleagues at this extremely sad time. Andrew will be sadly missed as a friend, associate and industry expert.”
