The UK’s Intelligent Transport Society has paid out two £100 donations to charities chosen by members involved in recruiting organisations to join.
Andy Graham of White Willow Consulting has chosen Mission Motorsport as his charity after recruiting Sopra Steria to Executive level membership, while Dementia UK gets £100 thanks to Neil Levett of Levett Business Services’ work in upgrading Clearview Intelligence’s membership from Corporate to Executive.
ITS (UK)’s membership drive calls on existing members to think about which organisations they work with that would benefit from joining. In recognition of the time taken to make the representations, ITS (UK) offers £100 to a chosen charity, or to go into its own fund to promote STEM subjects in schools.
“Mission Motorsport is a charity I support because of its work to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motorsport and the automotive industry,” explained Andy Graham. “I’ve seen the results first hand both in motorsport and also in Covid support services with their military logistics expertise helping to deliver PPE. I’ve masterminded more than £20,000 of fund raising for them by auctioning off ‘man cave stuff’, also known as ‘automotive memorabilia’ in a bar at Le Mans every year, and recently got them another chunk of money by losing 20Kg of weight.”
“Having had my Mum’s funeral on the first day of lockdown last year we were lucky not to have gone through the pain of not being able to visit somebody in the pandemic and having them confused as to why nobody had been to see them,” added Neil Levett. “This donation is a thank you to the carers who have helped all of those families who did suffer that pain. Hopefully, like with cancer, we can start to see some big improvements in understanding and treating the condition.”
“It is an absolute pleasure to make these payments to these important charities on behalf of our members Andy and Neil,” commented Jennie Martin, ITS (UK) Secretary General. “Both have worked hard to evangelise about the work ITS (UK) does, and to bring us a new, and an enhanced, member and these donations are a token of our appreciation. I hope this news will galvanise other members to think about the organisations they deal with on a day-to-day basis and when appropriate, recruit them to our society.”
ITS (UK) has materials to assist in recruiting new members. Please contact the Secretariat for details.
