Twenty ITS (UK) members have exhibited and many more been represented at the giant Intertraffic show in Amsterdam, helping to promote cutting-edge British ITS technology.
The four day event featured 13 halls totalling more than 800 exhibit stands as well as demonstrations and conference programmes. People from more than a hundred countries attended.
The event is usually held every two years, but this is the first since 2018 thanks to two Covid cancellations.
There was enthusiasm among people ITS (UK) spoke to about the value of being in Amsterdam.
Navtech Radar Managing Director Philip Avery said he had “many conversations on the stand with the right people,” while Managing Director of Westcotec, Chris Spinks said the event “exceeded expectations”.
Ian Hind, AGD’s Commercial Director said the international makeup of the visitors “opened up a large number of opportunities around the world” and new Aimsun UK Managing Director James Daniels commented how the event allowed him to “spend time face to face with so many colleagues, while really understanding the needs of the company’s existing and prospective customers”.
Geoff Collins, Deputy Managing Director of Jenoptik joked that “it took ages to walk anywhere because you struggled to walk from one side of a hall to the other without bumping into several people you know” and Clearview’s Managing Director Nick Lanigan said he “enjoyed meeting up with so many contacts face to face again, and to host meetings with partners from the Netherlands, Scandinavia, the Czech Republic, Canada and Australia so conveniently”.
For Jenoptik, a highlight was winning an Intertraffic Award.
The week also included ITS (UK) joining the Network of National ITS Associations for a co-ordination meeting and a dinner as guest of Connekt, the ITS Association for the Netherlands, attended by leading ITS figures from across the continent.
