Sustainability, connectivity and active travel safety will be discussed in detail this September at the biggest JCT Traffic Signals symposium to date.
A record number of exhibitors are attending the two-day event at Nottingham Trent University, with delegates promised a very high standard of presentations by industry leaders drawn from both suppliers and the public sector.
Connectivity papers include ones on 5G and the latest advancements in GLOSA (Green Light Optimum Speed Advisory), while there are papers on improving the environmental credentials of signal installations, decarbonisation one step and pedal at a time, and air quality improvements using artificial intelligence, while active travel and its safety is also discussed in an environmental context.
There are also papers discussing Radar-based solutions, traffic poles and a revolution in Urban Traffic Control.
Darren Capes of the Department for Transport gives the keynote address on in-vehicle connectivity while the public sector is represented by speakers from, among other places, Leeds, Hull, and Staffordshire and delegates will also hear from organisations including Clearview Intelligence, Mobius Networks, Mott MacDonald, SWARCO, Smart Video and Sensing, and TRL. ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin will chair the opening keynote session.
“I don’t remember filling the programme with so many high-quality papers so early in the year before,” commented JCT Director John Nightingale (pictured) who is organising the event. “We have great speakers, great subjects and a great exhibition to go with it. Our delegate numbers are extremely high for so far ahead of the event so I’ll stick my neck out to suggest this year’s Symposium could well be the biggest and best ever.”
The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium also features a record 31 different exhibitor organisations and two days of socialising and networking, including a value-for-money barbeque on the Tuesday night before the event and the Yunex-sponsored gala dinner on the Wednesday which as always is preceded by the SWARCO sparkling wine reception.
