The former Secretary General of ITS (UK), Jennie Martin MBE has been appointed as the new Chair of Bus Users UK following a unanimous vote of the Board.
Described as “a passionate campaigner for inclusive, equitable and sustainable transport”, Mrs Martin retired from ITS (UK) in January and is now the Ambassador of the Network of National ITS Associations.
Speaking on her appointment, Jennie Martin said: “I look forward to leading the Bus Users Board, a team of experienced, knowledgeable and passionate advocates for bus passengers everywhere in the UK. It is an honour to be chosen by them to chair the Board and it will be an honour to work with them and the excellent Bus Users staff to fulfil our mission to bring people together through accessible, inclusive transport.”
Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK welcomed the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Jennie as the new Chair of Bus Users UK. Jennie brings with her extensive experience of collaborative working and public transport from both an industry and a passenger perspective. We look forward to working with her in her new role.”
Alongside her role as Chair of Bus Users, she is Vice President and Trustee of CILT International (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), a Trustee of PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety) and a Board Member of the National Highways Research and Innovation Advisory Board.
Mrs Martin has a BA (Hons) from Kings College London, an MA from the Open University, and is a Refugee befriender with HostNation. In 2023, she was awarded an MBE for services to transport technology.
