Jet Plant Hire, a leading highways and construction industry company, has announced the launch of a dedicated training school based in Evesham, aimed at finding the road planer operators of the future.
With a diverse customer base, Jet Plant is already an industry leader, thanks to expertise gained from its seasoned operatives and enthusiasm from new recruits, who are embracing the latest technology and efficiencies.
Jet School seeks to address the industry’s immediate demand for the next generation of skilled professionals and provide a long-lasting legacy of talented workers.
The nine-month programme is specifically designed to equip participants with a range of competencies crucial for success in the modern road planing sector.
Trainees are assessed throughout and guaranteed a permanent job if they pass the four appraisals throughout the process.

The first two recruits have already begun their training programme at the Jet School and are making impressive progress.
25-year-old Tyler Rock had a variety of different jobs before joining – from working in pubs to delivery driving. Four months into his training, he says he’s really enjoying himself: “I didn’t know much about road planing before I joined but I’m so glad that I’m part of this world now.
“It’s been a brilliant challenge so far as I’ve had the chance to learn from experienced colleagues and develop invaluable new skills. I also particularly like the positive approach to mental health at the business, with everyone on the team very supportive of each other.”
24-year-old Cameron Powton was a bricklayer before he joined Jet School and he particularly loves the travelling aspect of the job, saying: “I’ve worked in Barnstaple, Chichester, Swindon and Bristol already! It’s been great to work alongside talented colleagues in a variety of different places.
“I feel very well looked after here and everyone has had a lot of time for me as I learn the trade. I’d encourage anybody considering this industry to give it a go… I have and I haven’t looked back!”
Under the guidance of experienced professional colleagues, participants gain hands-on experience with the intricacies of road planing. The curriculum includes operating a planer, setting machine levels, depth checking, kerb cutting, general machine competency, basic maintenance, as well as other factors such as health and safety and sustainability.
The initiative is a testament to Jet Plant’s dedication to the development of talent within the industry. The programme goes beyond theoretical knowledge, focusing on practical skills that align with the demands of real-world projects.
