Kerbside innovator Grid Smarter Cities bags two major award nominations

Kerbside management company Grid Smarter Cities has been nominated in two categories at the prestigious British Parking Awards.

The company has developed its Kerb® Delivery solution to enable freight drivers to book their kerbside loading slots in advance, meaning no loitering in the carriageway or circling the roads and therefore reducing congestion and making roads safer for local authorities.

The company has been shortlisted in the Parking Partnership Award for its work with Southwark Council on introducing bookable loading bays on Walworth Road (pictured), and in the Parking Technology Award which recognises “a piece of parking hardware, a device or a wider system that makes the management of parking more efficient and/or customer-friendly”.

“Grid Smarter Cities is proud of the Southwark Council partnership delivering the world’s first high street bookable loading bays, showcasing practical innovation in action,” commented Neil Herron, CEO and Founder at Grid Smarter Cities. “These nominations not only recognise our excellent technology, but also the collaborative attitude the team has in working with forward-looking councils in delivering solutions to end the first come first served free for all on our country’s kerbsides.”

The Kerb® Delivery solution has previously won ITS UK Project of the Year and Better Environment through Technology awards, and been Highly Commented by the CIHT for its Last-Mile Logistics Award in 2024 and commended for the CIHT Technology and Digital Transformation Award this year.

The winners of the British Parking Awards will be announced in a ceremony at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on 12 September.
