The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has appointed Alec Peachey as its new Content Director.

As part of his role he will be responsible for developing LCRIG’s overall content strategy in conjunction with the board. He will work closely with the sector to develop relationships and help raise the profile of the organisation.

Talking about his appointment, Mr Peachey said: “I am delighted to be joining LCRIG at what promises to be an exciting time for the organisation. LCRIG has quickly become recognised as a leading body in the highways sector. I’m looking forward to working with the board and the organisation’s members to continue to raise the profile of LCRIG and highlight the good work taking place across the sector.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the industry when I was Editor of Highways and can’t wait to get started. The sense of community is something that has always stayed with me and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping LCRIG with its mission to facilitate fresh thinking in innovation and collaboration.”

Mr Peachey spent four years as Editor and Head of Content of Highways Magazine between 2013 and 2017. More recently he has edited titles in the utilities sector, having taken over as editor of Network in 2017, before being promoted to the role of content director on Water and Wastewater Treatment (WWT) in 2019. Alec has project-managed the content creation of websites and digital platforms for a variety of brands, chaired roundtables and conferences, and been involved in the organisation of such events.

Alec recognises the role that local authorities play in delivering road improvements and the importance of innovation in helping them to do this. Part of his job will be to establish industry relationships in an effort to drive editorial value from them and help increase membership.
