National Highways teams are starting the next stage in upgrade work on Junction 10 of the M25, as they work on widening the motorway and introducing free-flowing slip roads.
Its introducing narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit on the A3 on both sides of the junction, and the M25 as it passes through junction 10.
National Highways says this will ensure that it can continue to keep the same number of lanes open, and create a safe working space for its team.
From today (9 January), the A3 will be closed overnight northbound between the B2215 and A245 Painshill with no northbound entry to the A3 from Ockham, Wisley Lane or M25 junctions.
Drivers will be diverted via A247 Clandon Road, A246 and A24 towards M25 junction 9 for Leatherhead. Non-motorway traffic will continue along A243 to join the A3 at Hook.
Later in the month the A3 will then be closed overnight southbound between the A244 Esher Common and A247 Burntcommon with no southbound entry to the A3 from Esher Common, Painshill, M25 or Old Lane junctions.
