The engineering, management, and development consultancy Mott MacDonald is hosting an event next month that will bring national and local government together with the private sector to explore how digital tools and approaches are driving change across the UK’s roads sector.
The Digital Roads Symposium will feature interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and insights into the technologies shaping the future of transport.
It takes place at the iconic Jodrell Bank, a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by Mott MacDonald, on Tuesday 18 November between 11am and 4pm.
Speakers include the Department for Transport’s Head of Road Infrastructure Technology, Darren Capes, who will outline the DfT’s ongoing activities around connected vehicles and Digital Vehicle Services Framework, and Dave Dickinson, Head of Operational Technology, National Highways, presenting on how National roads authorities are planning their renewals.
Also speaking are the DfT’s Head of Digital Twins, George Economides discussing “Digital Twins for Transport, from a DfT perspective”. While Mott MacDonald’s Director of Future Mobility, Annette Smith will run a workshop to identify what’s holding us back and what can accelerate progress in the planning of our future roads and
Chris Newson Business Development Strategic Asset Management at Brightly Software hosts a session on: “Are you doing asset management or are you just managing assets.”
The event is aimed at delivering insights into the way digital innovation is reshaping how we plan, manage, and deliver transport infrastructure – from smarter asset performance to seamless customer journeys, how the digital transformation of roads is unlocking new possibilities for resilience, sustainability, and service excellence.
